digital x-rays for dentist in raleigh nc

Digital X-Rays & Sensors

As a holistic dental practice, we understand your concerns about radiation exposure from dental x-rays but want you to understand the benefits and how they can align with a natural approach to dental care.

  • Reduced exposure — Digital x-rays use up to 80 percent less radiation than traditional film x-rays, making them a safer choice.
  • Enhanced imaging capabilities — We can easily manipulate digital images and share your images with you to help you better understand your treatment needs. Enhanced imaging also helps our dentists detect early signs of dental issues that might be missed with traditional x-ray films. Early detection and treatment often lead to less invasive and less costly procedures, which aligns with our natural approach.
  • Environmentally friendly — Digital x-rays eliminate the need for harmful chemicals, and there's no waste, such as plastic film and lead foils.
  • Long-term monitoring — We can easily store digital x-rays for future reference. This ability allows us to monitor changes in your oral health over time and tailor treatments specifically to your needs.

Using digital x-rays allows us to provide safer, more efficient, and more effective care while reducing our environmental impact. It's important to note that we only recommend x-rays when necessary for diagnostic or treatment purposes.

laser dentistry in raleigh nc

Laser Dentistry

Our advanced technology supports our natural approach to dental care, and our soft tissue dental laser is an innovation that has transformed the way we handle many dental procedures.

Soft tissue lasers are highly precise and versatile, allowing us to comfortably and efficiently perform gum contouring, periodontal therapy, and treating cold sores or ulcers. The laser's focused beam of light energy allows for incredibly accurate treatment while leaving surrounding healthy tissue untouched.

This technology offers many benefits that align with our wellness-centered approach to dental care. Laser dentistry often results in less discomfort during and after procedures, as it seals blood vessels and nerve endings as it works. This also reduces the need for sutures and leads to faster healing times, and the laser's precision means we can preserve more gum tissue.

3-D cone beam technology at dentist in raleigh nc

3-D Cone Beam Computed Tomograhy (CBCT)

Our 3-D cone beam imaging technology takes dental diagnostics to a new level by providing detailed 3-D views of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures.

Taking a 3-D scan with CBCT involves standing in front of the machine as it captures multiple images that are combined to create a comprehensive 3-D model. This in-depth view allows our dental team to accurately diagnose and plan treatments for a wide range of dental issues, including dental implants, TMJ disorders, impacted teeth, and complex root canals.

CBCT’s high-resolution images provide a clear picture of your oral structures, enabling us to plan treatment more accurately and improve outcomes. The technology is also non-invasive and exposes you to less radiation than traditional medical CT scans.

CEREC same day dental crowns in raleigh nc

CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns

CEREC is the acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This innovative technology works with intraoral scanners and CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) to design and mill high-quality dental crowns in our office.

With CEREC, there's no need for messy impressions, multiple visits, or a temporary crown while waiting weeks for your permanent restoration. Instead, our dental team uses a handheld intraoral scanner to take mess-free digital impressions of your teeth. They then use the highly detailed and accurate images to design a custom dental crown that blends seamlessly with your smile. The CAD/CAM system mills the crown from a high-quality biocompatible ceramic, which is then expertly adjusted and cemented in place.

digital impressions at dentist in raleigh nc

Digital Impressions

We use intraoral scanners to capture detailed, 3-D impressions of your teeth and gums quickly and comfortably. An intraoral scanner is a small handheld wand that we move over your teeth, and as it scans, it creates a high-resolution digital image of your teeth and gums. This leading-edge technology provides an accurate impression used for a range of procedures, including same-day crowns, dental implants, and Invisalign treatment.

A major benefit of intraoral scanners is patient comfort. Traditional dental impressions require you to bite down on a tray filled with a messy paste which can be an uncomfortable and gag-inducing experience. Intraoral scanners eliminate the need for these traditional impressions in many cases.

Intraoral scanners are safe, non-invasive, and use light-based technology, so there is no risk of radiation exposure. With intraoral scanners, we can ensure a more accurate diagnosis, better-fitting dental restorations, and a more pleasant and comfortable experience for you.

intraoral camera at dentist in raleigh nc

Intraoral Cameras

An intraoral camera is a small, pen-sized camera that captures high-resolution images of your teeth and gums. Our dentists share the real-time images with you and use them to spot issues such as cavities, cracks, or early signs of gum disease that may not be easily visible to the naked eye.

A key benefit of intraoral cameras is that they provide a clear and thorough understanding of your oral health. By sharing the images with you, we can educate and engage you in your dental care, empowering you to make informed decisions about your treatments. The detailed images also help our dentists create more accurate and personalized treatment plans, ensuring we address your specific needs and concerns.

noise-cancelling headphones at dentist in raleigh nc

Noise-Canceling Headphones

We understand dental appointments can sometimes be stressful, so we offer noise-canceling headphones to create a calm and comfortable environment during your visit. Noise-canceling headphones block out sounds commonly heard during dental procedures, such as the whirring of a drill. You can immerse yourself in your favorite music, podcast, or audiobook, taking your mind off the procedure to make the time seem to pass quicker.

Beyond creating a more relaxed atmosphere, noise-canceling headphones also play a role in our whole-body approach to dental care. Reducing stress and anxiety during dental visits is essential for your overall wellness. By providing a more relaxed environment, we aim to encourage regular dental visits, ensuring that your oral health is always at its best.

nitrous oxide at dentist in raleigh nc

Nitrous Oxide

Dental anxiety is common for many patients, and we offer nitrous oxide to ensure a safe, comfortable, and relaxed dental experience.

Nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas," is a mild sedative we administer through a small nose mask. As you inhale the gas, it quickly takes effect to help soothe nervous or anxious feelings throughout your dental appointment. Our trained dental team can easily adjust the level of sedation to suit your needs and ensure your comfort.

Another benefit of nitrous oxide sedation is that the effects wear off quickly once we stop the flow of gas. In its place, we have you inhale pure oxygen for several minutes so the groggy feelings dissipate, and you can drive yourself home safely after your appointment.

Nitrous oxide is considered extremely safe when administered by a trained dental professional, and it's helpful for patients of all ages, including children.
